For swearing and affirming of oaths, affidavits (for Court actions, matters or proceedings) and other legal documents, including documents required by the Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN), Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ), Immigration Department of Malaysia (Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia), and affirmation of statutory declarations.

The powers of a Commissioner for Oaths are provided under the Commissioners for Oaths Rules 2018, including Rule 9, with additional provisions applicable to advocates and solicitors appointed as Commissioners for Oaths.
As an advocate and solicitor appointed as a Commissioner for Oaths, Mr. Baskaran Aruchunan is authorised to perform functions permitted by law, including:

✔️ Receiving acknowledgments of recognizances of bail and bail bonds.
✔️ Administering oaths and affirmations for affidavits and legal proceedings.
✔️ Taking and receiving statutory declarations.
✔️ Administering oaths for executors and administrators.
✔️ Administering oaths for witnesses and persons involved in legal actions, matters, or proceedings.
✔️ Administering oaths for the examination of witnesses under interrogatories or in legal proceedings.
